Today we would like to talk about [Yamahoko tate/ floats building] at Gion Festival
Yamahoko is one of the main attractions of Gion Festival.
In Kyoto, for the first time in two years, the work of building floats began on July 10, when the previous festival began.

It seems that the floats were built to pass on the technology.
Instead of using nails or screws,
they combine wood and assemble it using the traditional technique called "rope garami",
which is fixed only with straw rope.
The "Naginata-hoko" at the beginning of the cruise
seems to be about 25m high and weigh about 7 tons.
The craftsmen who sweat and assemble to preserve the tradition of Kyoto are very cool.
